It happened to me twice this week and multiple times all summer long. Casper streets have been going under a much needed overhaul, but I keep getting caught in the construction zone trap.

It hasn't been that big of a deal for me yet, but if you're running late it could really cause frustration.

This summer has been rough on travelers from 2nd Street to 15th street south of downtown in Casper. Sidewalk projects, resurfacing, lane closures, road closures, detours, and headaches.

Most people are a lot like me, you're a creature of habit. You wake up, make your coffee, take a shower and head to work. When you're driving to work, you drive the same route and have it timed to the minute. You don't want to get to work to early, and you surely don't want to be late. When something happens and it interrupts your normal routine, the whole day is messed up. According to a study at the Massachusetts Institute Of Technology (MIT), 90% of the participants follow a routine throughout the day that can be predicted.

Having to change your route because of road construction shouldn't be a big deal, but for some it's enough to ruin their day.

To help you avoid that frustration, here's a rundown of how you can steer away from the road construction traps in south Casper. There is a great map system within the City of Casper's website that can guide you and keep you informed of what's happening. It's interactive and keeps you up to date on the status. If you notice below, it's a frustrating mess to get through the area from CY to McKinley...12th to 15th.

If you need to head south from downtown or north from 15th (Casper College, Muni Golf Course or YMCA) in Casper, choose Wolcott St or McKinley. If you pre-plan those streets, it keeps you from the frustration of having to figure it out at the last minute.

Thanks Casper and all the crews that are working hard to get our streets into tip top shape before winter rears its ugly head.
