With just under 600,000 people living here, Wyoming is the least populated state in the U.S.

That's pretty impressive when you look at the actual size of the state. Wyoming is the 10th largest state by area with 97,813 square miles. So in Wyoming there are 5.9 people per square mile.

Rhode Island is the smallest state by area with 1,545 sq miles, but the population is 1.1 million, that means there are just over 1,000 people per every square mile.

For many of the city slickers, there are so few people living here, that there are only 10 cities with over 10,000 people. Of those 10, only 3 are over 30,000.

Wyomingites love the fact that people don't live here, don't want to live here and most people wouldn't be able to handle it if they did move here. It's a sense of pride to be able to thrive and be happy here.

The YouTube page World According To Briggs, which is a page dedicated to places, mostly in the United States, that's ran by former a former military man named Briggs. He's been to every state and has lived in multiple, so he seems to be pretty knowledgeable about the states, including Wyoming.

Unlike many of the videos, surveys or opinions you see about Wyoming, Briggs has actually been here. Many of the others, just find information on the internet and call it good.

Briggs runs down 10 reasons why nobody lives in Wyoming. I'll give you the top 5 and you can see the other 5 by checking out the video below.

  • #5 on his list is 'lack of industries' - even though we have some industries here, they don't employ too many people.
  • #4 is that Wyoming is known as an 'outdoor haven' - hunting, fishing and the love of the outdoors are all a major part of the state. People that love doing those things are happy to be here, but not everyone loves that type of thing.
  • #3 Wyoming doesn't 'promote itself like other states' - Wyoming is an IYKYK kind of state. Sure the tourism is advertised, but lots of the other features aren't. Other states are advertising how great their state is to live in, in turn trying to lure people there.
  • #2 Wyoming has a 'low diversity rate' - with a low population, outsiders that look for extremely diverse features in a state, may not see as much as they'd like.
  • #1  spot on his list is the 'horrible dating scene' - if you're looking for lots of options when it comes to love, Wyoming isn't probably the spot for you.

Those are just 5 of the 10 reasons Briggs feels people aren't living here. Check out the video and find out what the other 5 are.
