FRIDAY – Snow, Rain, Wind, It’s About Time, Winter
Early Friday morning, 1 AM to be exact, and the wind begins to pick up. The forecast for Wyoming on this Friday, the 3rd of April, shows a chance of rain, snow, and lots of wind for much of the state.
For much of the western and northwestern part of the state, it will seem like - WINTER!
Where have you been, winter? It's about time.
Snow expected. Total snow accumulations from 1 to 5 inches,
with higher amounts expected in far southeast Johnson County,
around the Midwest, Edgerton, Hiland, and the south side of Casper.
Casper Mountain is expected to see 6 to 8 inches of snow. Winds
gusting as high as 35 to 40 mph.
Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions.
Down in the southeastern part of the state, around Cheyenne, expect a heck of a lot of wind. I mean -- wow.
Then we roll into this weekend, and winter will pretend like nothing ever happened. Wind dies, skies clear, temperatures warm.
After that, our regional weatherman, Don Day of Day weather, advises us not to trust our weather apps for more than a couple of days at a time. There is just too much going on to our north to understand what might come next. Even the computer models are confused.
As much misery as this shot of weather brings us, we can definitely use the wet, so let's not complain. Our mountains have been short on snowpack this season. This latest hit does not solve the problem, but it does help.
