20-Year-Old Wyomingite Dead After Pickup Crashes Into Tree, Rolls
1 Killed, 3 Injured in Rollover Crash Near Upton
A 20-year-old Wyomingite was killed and three other people injured Tuesday morning when the pickup they were traveling in crashed into a tree and rolled, the Wyoming Highway Patrol says.
It happened around 8:20 a.m. at milepost 220.8 on U.S. 16 near Upton.
According to a fatality crash summary, a Ram 2500 was westbound when it crossed over the entrance to the Upton Rest Area and went off the right-hand side of the highway.
"Once off the roadway, the vehicle entered a passenger-side leading skid, impacting a tree on the front passenger-side door," the summary reads. "After impacting the tree, the vehicle rolled onto the roof."
The crash left unbuckled passenger Shannon Amos dead and the driver and their other two passengers injured.
Driver Fatigue Possibly to Blame in Fatal Crash
The summary lists driver fatigue/asleep as a possible contributing factor.
Amos is the 70th reported person to die on Wyoming's highways this year.
