Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon has asked U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsak for a secretarial disaster declaration for damage from wildfires this summer.

If approved, the declaration can make federal money available to help agricultural producers who have been impacted.

As of Monday, over 639,000 acres  in Wyoming had been torched by recent fires according to a news release from the governor's office. The release also points out that ''Fire season is not over in Wyoming.''

Governor Also Extends Executive Order

The governor has also extended an executive order he issued on August 30. That order eases some of the regulations on vehicles carrying livestock and livestock feed in Wyoming.
