Revenge can  be sweet, and revenge is what the NCHS Mustangs got a taste of last night against Cheyenne East.  And I don't want to jinx a football team that's been rolling over their opponents most of the year by talking about an un-defeated season. But there is one on the brink. Last night the NCHS Mustangs took another step towards destiny when their defense shut out Cheyenne East giving the Mustangs their 11th win of the season and a spot in the state title game against Gillette (10-1), down in Laramie next Saturday, coming away with a 30-0 victory.

All year long it's been the tandem of Brecken Biggs and Josh Flanigan that has made the difference on the offensive side of the ball, but it's been the Mustang's defense that has shown up all season shutting out a number of opponents and last night was no exception. In the second half alone, on three separate occasions, Cheyenne tried to convert on fourth down and each time the Mustang's defense rallied.

So now it's the Mustangs nemesis from the North. The Gillette Camels, who defeated Sheridan 35-16, to gain their spot in the title match, that the Mustang's will have to defeat, for the second time this season, to cap off the perfect run. To bad you have to go to Laramie to see the game.
