Sessions were only a few weeks along when Duane Allman headed out for a fateful motorcycle ride.

The group had conclusively ground to a halt three years earlier. Or so it seemed.

The concert followed 45 years together, millions of albums sold and countless miles.

To say they were up against a wall in the fall of 1972 would be something of an understatement.
