The Wyoming Department of Transportation announced earlier this morning (Thursday, October 31st, 2024), that Casper Mountain Road is temporarily closed.

The Riverton office of the National Weather Service says scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue the rest of Friday and through the weekend.

Watch for workers and equipment and possible delays.

On September 24, it was reported that a car had driven off Casper Mountain Road and plunged into a ravine.

Taylor couldn't maintain his lane, crossed the center line and went off the highway to the left.

Drivers are advised to avoid Wyoming Boulevard in the area of Casper Mountain Road.

Meanwhile, Casper Mountain Road, WY 252, remained closed with no estimated reopening time.

WYDOT expects the work to take two or three days to complete.

Work will be performed during normal working hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The most asked question by motorists since yesterday construction equipment showed up at Wyoming Boulevard and Casper Mountain Road is, "what's going on?"

If you travel Outer Drive, you may want to rethink your route. Whether you're traveling east, or west, you have to merge into one lane with reduced speed headed to Casper Mountain Road. I'm not sure how long this will continue, but the equipment suggests it will be a while.
