Miley Cyrus recently covered The Beatles with help From The Flaming Lips. On Friday Cyrus posted to Soundcloud her version of the Led Zeppelin tune "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You," from Zeppelin;s '69 debut album.
Bob Dylan has entered the "rock 'n' roll statesman" phase of his career, in which just about every album he releases is showered with critical praise right out of the gate. But Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne sees Dylan's recent output a little differently.
Although they have a deserved reputation as one of indie rock's weirdest bands, the Flaming Lips have a classic rock heart. Literally. Just in time for Valentine's Day, they have released a limited edition 15-song mix, 'Songs of Love,' which closes with a cover of the Beatles' 'All You Need Is Love.'
Maybe the Flaming Lips decided to record a crazy, bass-heavy, guitar-free video for the Beatles psychedelic masterpiece ‘I Am the Walrus’ as a way to prepare for their upcoming New Year’s Eve concerts with Yoko Ono’s Plastic Ono Band in their hometown of Oklahoma City. More likely, they’re weirding out in the clip because, well, that’s what they do best.
