Twenty-eight years of ‘Live with Regis and Kelly’ have gone by and Regis is gone. Now comes the fun part of finding his replacement. On last night’s ‘Saturday Night Live,’ various celebrities auditioned to sit in the chair next to Kelly Ripa, including, among others, Ricky Gervais, Ashton Kutcher, George Lopez, Rosie O’Donnell, and even NPR’s Garrison Keillor.

CBS has tried many different hosts and many different formats on ‘The Early Show,’ but they still come in third place after NBC’s ‘Today’ and ABC’s ‘Good Morning, America.’ Now they have a new plan. Turn the show into a news program.

Regis Philbin may be exiting ‘Live!’ in a couple weeks, but Kelly Ripa is staying put. The 41-year-old actress and host, who celebrated a decade with the show in February, just signed a new five-year contract with Disney-ABC Domestic Television that will begin when her current deal expires late next year.

It’s sad to think that next week is Regis Philbin’s last week of hosting ‘Live with Regis & Kelly’ after 28 years. The show will continue, of course, as Kelly Ripa signed a new, five-year contract yesterday, but it won’t be the same without this household name. The last week, however, looks like a good one. Besides the teary goodbyes and the flashback montages, they’ve got a great guest list,

It’s no secret that Regis Philbin has been waging an ongoing war with technology. Fans of ‘Live With Regis and Kelly’ will recall that he’s struggled with nearly every device known to man, including cell phones, fax machines, computers, iPods and even ATMs. The guy is old-fashioned,  you see.

Regis Philbin has done some whacky things before, but nothing, as far as we recall, that resulted in him getting partially naked on national TV. Leave it to ‘Jersey Shore’ train-wreck Snooki for bringing out the wild man in The Reeg.
