The city of Cheyenne was going to start painting bicycle lanes this week, but complaints about losing parking spaces for residents along two major routes, Pioneer and Carey Avenues, have put the brakes on that project, for now, according to the Wyoming Tribune Eagle.

The obvious benefits of exercise, clean air and savings on seemingly ever more expensive fuel are up against a relative few people who live along those routes. I understand and, I myself would be upset if I bought a home with parking and had it taken away. Do the needs of the many (and just how many riders are there?) outweigh the needs of the residents?

Would it make you feel less welcome in Cheyenne? How would you want it handled in Casper?
