After reading a rumor that one of my all time favorite console video games was getting a live-action treatment, my heart skipped a beat. Contra, the 1987 classic Nintendo, two-man, run-and-gun, side scrolling shoot em up is getting a movie and a television show!

According to Dot Esports:

After releasing a Contra mobile title in China, Konami has upped the ante by announcing both forms of media, with the movie revealed earlier this year via publication China Film Insider.

Konami is the maker of Contra, Silent Hill, Metal Gear, Frogger, Castlevania, Dance Dance Revolution and a host of other classic video games.

Once my mind processed the above information, my brain then started contemplating various areas in Wyoming that would make excellent locations for live-action game levels.

    Hells Half Acre

This is a no-brainer. The landscape actually resembles a couple of the boards from the game as it is. Plus, wouldn't it be cool if Konami could get the rights to use one of the big bug aliens from Starship Troopers. That was filmed here in the late 90's. There has to be some props leftover somewhere.

    Devils Tower

This would be great just because it looks cool. Plus, with a name like Devils Tower, it just sounds ominous. Couple that with the fact that it's also the nation's first national monument, why not let two commandos climb up and down it, while shooting at aliens? They did use it for the backdrop of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Can you say tie-in?

    Casper Mountain

This would make an awesome level, especially in the winter. It could be one of the later boards with bears, mountain lions and other large animals that you would have to avoid (and not kill). Fighting aliens and avoiding wildlife... that sounds like a challenge to us!

    Yellowstone National Park

This is another no-brainer. Konami could probably film half of the movie just on location at the park. There are so many different beautiful landscapes for hordes of alien invaders to destroy.

    Cheyenne Capitol Building

This would be the final stage/level. After running around the entire state, the aliens would have to all be camped at the state capitol. This would make for an awesome last stand, especially if you could literally see bullets flying inside of the building! Maybe even an Independence Day style explosion for the climax!
