Authorities Burn Slash Pile on Casper Mountain
The smoke coming off Casper Mountain today is not cause for alarm.
A slash pile on Tower Hill is being burned today by the Casper Mountain Fire District. It is a scheduled, controlled burn.
Originally, the plan was to burn the slash pile on April 29. However, difficulty accessing the area and safety concerns prompted the fire district to postpone the burn to today.
The Natrona County Sheriff's Office confirmed a slash pile is being burned on Casper Mountain today.
Authorities are asking the public to not call 911 to report the smoke, as that would unnecessarily tie up emergency lines.
