Axl Rose Doesn’t Want Jeff Sessions to Be the Attorney General
The nomination of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) to be the next Attorney General of the United States hasn't sat too well with Axl Rose. He tweeted out his thoughts on Twitter yesterday while on tour in South America with Guns N' Roses.
"Good people don't listen to, acknowledge, nominate or elect people like Senator Jeff Sessions," he tweeted.
Currently serving his fourth term as a U.S. Senator from Alabama, Jeff Sessions was nominated yesterday (Nov. 18) by President-elect Donald Trump to be the Attorney General. Sessions, 69, has long drawn criticism from civil rights groups. In 1986, while a U.S. Attorney, he was nominated by President Ronald Reagan to be a federal district judge. After hearing testimony that he had referred to the NAACP as "un-American" and had not sufficiently pursued other civil rights cases, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted against sending his nomination to the Senate floor, and his nomination was withdrawn.
As with Guns N' Roses support after the shooting at the Pulse nightclub, the tweet shows a change in the views of Rose, whose 1988 song "One in a Million" contained racial and homophobic epithets. Back in September, he offered free tickets to an AC/DC concert to a Honduran-American waitress whose customers had written "We only tip citizens" on a bill.
Guns N' Roses will remain in Latin America through the end of the month. In late-January 2017, the "Not in This Lifetime..." tour moves to Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Asia. As of now, the last date on the calendar is March 3 in Dubai.
