Bear Euthanized After People Take Selfies With It

This is just plain sad. A black bear had to be euthanized after tourists kept taking selfies with it. Pathetic.

Believe it or not, this did not happen at Yellowstone. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife announced that a black bear near Henry Hagg Lake had to be put down after it had become habituated to an area where people were feeding it and taking selfies. Here's part of their statement:

Law enforcement became aware of interactions between the bear and humans after some individuals took “selfie” photographs of themselves and the bear and posted them on social media. Over the past week, officers were called to the same area several times where individuals had left food for the animal.

In Wyoming, we are unfortunately aware of stupid people that leave food out where bears can access it. But, taking selfies with wild animals is dangerous and ridiculous. Let's speak truth about how awful this is.
