Bohl and The Cowboys Searching For Answers [VIDEO]
With questions surrounding the offense, the Wyoming Cowboys are looking at all possibilities ahead of this Saturday’s Homecoming game versus Utah State.
Wyoming (2-5, 0-3) ranks at or near the bottom is three statistical categories on offense. The Cowboys struggles were amplified again in last week’s loss at Fresno State. UW finished with 221 total yards, but just three points and didn’t score an offensive touchdown for a second straight game.
The Cowboys are 129 out of 129 teams in FBS football in third-down conversion percentage at .293. They rank 128 in scoring offense at 15.4 points per game. UW is No. 127 in total offense at just 282.3 yards per game. They also are No. 121 in passing offense (143.7) and No. 103 in rushing offense (138.6) after their last game.
Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl addressed the issues for a second straight week in the video above. He said they’re looking at personnel changes, groups, and possibly a little more up-tempo on offense, basically anything to jump-start that side of the football. Bohl knows they’ve got to find a balance in hopes of winning games. The head coach also looked ahead to the Utah State game and a difficult match-up with a high-scoring team but said there’s still a fight and resiliency to his team.
Utah State (5-1, 2-0), by contrast, ranks in the top 26 in the nation in third-down conversion, total offense, and scoring offense. The high-flying Aggies are No. 2 in the country averaging 51.7 points per game entering this Saturday. The Aggies are receiving votes in both national polls (Coaches and AP).
