Attorneys for Casper businessman Tony Cercy are concerned that local media coverage could taint the jury pool in his upcoming sexual assault trial.
During pre-trial motions last week, Cercy’s lawyers cited a blog recalling several of Wyoming’s biggest blockbuster court cases, which stated “when, and if, Casper millionaire and philanthropist Tony Cercy stands trial for sexual assualt, it will likely rank among the most infamous trials in Wyoming history.”
Defense attorneys argued that “given this media coverage, Mr. Cercy has sincere concerns about the ability to seat an unbiased jury in Casper”.
