A Cheyenne transient is facing up to 15 1/2 years in prison after allegedly beating his girlfriend in front of her two kids.

According to court documents, the woman was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center on April 26 after 32-year-old Max Gallo allegedly beat her in their hotel room.

Police say the woman told them that Gallo had beaten her so badly that she called out for help. When someone in a neighboring room yelled out they were calling the police, the woman said Gallo told her he would kill her before leaving.

The woman also told police that Gallo made her take drugs so she'd be easier to get along with. She said she didn't like taking drugs and would sometimes refuse and choose to get beaten instead.

According to the affidavit, the woman's 8-year-old daughter told police that Gallo kicked her mom in the face, stomped on her, punched her and banged her head against the floor. She said Gallo "did drugs" in the bathroom and smoked out of a white pipe that he put "red and blue things" in.

The girl also told police that Gallo threatened to "stab her" with a pair of scissors if her mom didn't "stop yelling" and "pushed" her 5-year-old sibling "with his foot."

Because of suicidal statements she had made to nurses, Gallo's girlfriend was emergency detained by a physician at CRMC and her kids were taken into protective custody.

Gallo was arrested on a warrant on May 5. He has been charged with aggravated assault and battery-threatens with weapon, strangulation of a household member-throat or neck and domestic battery-first offense.

Gallo is being held in the Laramie County Jail on $5,000 cash bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 19.
