Ask any Dark Tower fan about their hopes for a big screen adaptation, and they’ll all tell you the same thing: “I’ll believe it when I see it.” Even then, most of us refuse to believe it’s actually happening until we’re sitting in a theater and the Dark Tower title card appears on screen. Well, we’re definitely a big step closer to that dream becoming a reality, as new set photos from the Stephen King adaptation reveal Idris Elba in full Gunslinger dress, sandalwood grips and all.

The (unofficial) set photos popped up all over Twitter today, featuring Idris Elba in costume as Dark Tower protagonist Roland Deschain. Elba’s costume is 100 percent spot-on; honestly, it’s almost exactly how I pictured Roland, right down to the red kerchief and his famous sandalwood guns — the mark of a true Gunslinger. (Roland would not have an iPhone, however.)

Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) is directing The Dark Tower, which also stars Matthew McConaughey as the Man in Black and newcomer Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers. Jackie Earle Haley, Fran Kranz and Abbey Lee will play supporting antagonists, while Vikings star Katheryn Winnick recently joined the cast in an unknown role.

Based on the beloved Stephen King fantasy-western book series, The Dark Tower centers on Roland Deschain, the last in a line of heroic Gunslingers, who is joined by a young boy on his epic quest for the titular Dark Tower.

The long-awaited adaptation is set to hit theaters on February 17, 2017.
