The official end of Daylight Savings Time is 2 a.m. Sunday, and officials say it's always a good idea to change your smoke detector batteries when the time changes. Changing the batteries is as easy as taking your alarm off the wall, finding the battery storage area, and replacing the existing batteries.

Making a practice of change the batteries when the time changes should ensure the devices always have working batteries. Officials also say that you should replace your alarm devices every 8 to 10 years.  If you haven't checked in a while, the technology has changed and newer alarm devices offer many new monitoring options.
