Firefighters Put Out Backyard Blaze On Saturday Night
Authorities continue to investigate a fire that destroyed an all-terrain vehicle and household items in the 900 block of South Center Street on Saturday evening, according to a news release from the Casper Fire-EMS Department.
Fire crews responded to the approximately 8 p.m. call about a structure fire and found items burning in the back yard of the residence. The fire had spread to a nearby detached garage.
They soon extinguished the fire and determined it had not entered the garage.
Firefighters found a burning 4-wheel ATV, fencing and potted plants. Most of the damage was limited to the items. The ATV was a total loss. Damage to the garage was limited to its exterior.
Authorities have yet to determine the dollar value of the damage.
Casper Fire-EMS investigators are determining the cause of the fire. The cause remains undetermined, but investigators found indications juveniles were playing with fire.
Casper Fire-EMS reminds parents to talk to children about the dangers of playing with fire including playing with matches and lighters. The department added parents should teach children that if they find matches and lighters they should give them to an adult.
