By now, everyone has likely heard about those Ashley Madison profiles that were hacked and how many people in our state actually frequented the cheating spouse website. Lately, people are getting really crafty with all of the leaked data...

A scientist took a peek into every profile from the United States just to see which state lead the country in cheating by seeing how much they SPENT on their Ashley Madison accounts.

Spending an average of $5.50, Alabama came in at number one. Now bear in mind, many people sign up for the free account, but a LOT of people sign up for paid memberships. This would explain how the research balances them out to get the average up that high.

Some may call shenanigans, considering that Alabama is first on the list of states in alphabetical order, so it might be possible that many people wanted to remain anonymous and simply lied about where they lived and just picked the first state they saw on the list.

The rest of the top 10 are:

  • Colorado
  • Washington D.C.
  • New Jersey
  • Connecticut
  • Arkansas
  • Massachusetts
  • New York
  • New Hampshire
  • Virginia

On the other end, Ashley Madison users from West Virginia only spent an average of $1.

Wyoming is #27 on the chart, spending an average of $2.00 on their account.
