If you haven't been paying attention, Casper has been getting some new stores lately. If you're following along in some Facebook groups, some folks are excited, some don't care, and some aren't happy about it.

The Blackmore Marketplace has been in the works for a couple of years, with stores like Five Below, Burlington, Home Goods, and Sierra up and running for a few months, but the store that many have been stoked about is Barnes & Noble.

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as its strategy of handing control of each bookstore to local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers.

Casper's Barnes & Noble, which has been open for a few weeks, is the second location in Wyoming, and CEO James Daunt says it's been going well.

The new Casper bookstore has had an extraordinary reception since a soft opening a few weeks ago. Now that the full assortment is in place, and the final flourishes to the fit-out complete, we relish welcoming the community to this beautiful bookstore.

This Friday, the store will have its grand opening celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 am. Special guests will be on hand, including best-selling Wyoming author Craig Johnson, who will not only have the honor of cutting the ribbon, but also sign copies of his latest Longmire book, 'The Brothers McKay.' You'll have a chance to get your picture taken with the Cat in the Hat, who will also be onsite.

It looks like during the grand opening weekend, there will be all kinds of deals and savings.
