UPDATE: Mosquito Spraying Around Casper Delayed
Natrona County Weed and Pest will be busy spraying to control the Culex tarsalis mosquitoes around Casper during the evening of July 4 and 5 (8:30-10:00 p.m.), following a weather delay on July 3. The reason for this period is that it is a prime time for mosquitoes to be active, while other insects, such as butterflies and bees, are not.
This type of mosquito has been identified in Evansville, around the Casper/ Natrona Airport, and the Vista West areas of Casper. It's essential to act quickly and control this mosquito because it's known to carry and transmit the West Nile virus, posing a significant public health concern.
Two cases of West Nile Virus have been detected in captured mosquitoes within the designated areas. If spraying doesn't happen, there's potential for the virus to spread to humans and wildlife through this type of mosquito.
The map below shows the areas where the aerial spraying will take place. The area closest to the airport will be sprayed on the evening of July 4, and the remaining two locations will be sprayed on the evening of July 5.

The products to be used during the spraying mission are Duet HD and Anvil 10+10. The Environmental Protection Agency has evaluated each product and determined that, when used appropriately in residential areas, they will not pose a significant threat to people or animals in the surrounding areas.
If you live or are in the areas marked on the map, it's recommended to stay in your home during the application times and for 15-20 minutes after the application period. If you have pets and are worried, you can bring them inside or under a shelter, but it's not necessary.
If you're allergic to either of the chemicals, it's recommended to close your windows and turn off your air conditioning units during the spraying time.
