2026 may go down as one of the most construction-filled years Casper has seen. Obviously, that may be an overstatement, but it sure feels like it. Poplar has been open, closed, open again, closed, open, and then temporarily closed. The I-25 construction saga has been ongoing for years, and beginning today, another hitch has been thrown in our giddy-up.

WYDOT has closed a section of Interstate 25 in Casper for the next 3 days to allow for the removal of the Hereford Lane bridge over the interstate. The closure will be in effect through 11 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, between Curtis Street/Wyoming Boulevard (exit 185) and Bryan Stock Trail/Beverly Street (exit 186).

This map shows the madness you'll face:

If you're driving through Casper heading North on I-25, you'll need to exit at the Wyoming Boulevard Exit, then take E Yellowstone Highway until you can merge back onto I-25 after you cross Beverly.

If you're travelling South on I-25, you'll need to exit at Beverly, jump on Yellowstone until you can exit back onto I-25.

If you're local, my advice would be to just avoid I-25 altogether. I'd probably avoid Yellowstone Highway between 2nd and Wyoming Boulevard if you have a choice; with the detour, the number of vehicles rerouted there will be large.

May be a good time to utilize 12th, 13th, 15th, or buzz out to Outer Drive. Or take three days of vacation, and just stay at home and enjoy the air conditioning.

Just keep telling yourself that in 2 to 5 years, all this construction will be well worth it.
