Cheyenne South senior kicker Keelan Anderson continued an amazing 2023 high school football season on Friday night in Cheyenne.

He accomplished something that some college and NFL kickers can't do. Anderson made a state-record 61-yard field goal versus Natrona County. It's certainly a school record. Simply, wow!

The previous record of 57 yards was by David Browning of Natrona County and was set on Oct. 22, 1982. That's according to MaxPreps.com. Cheyenne South coach Eli Moody told WyoPreps that's the record they were going by for the new mark last night.

Anderson has been a weapon for the Bison. After last night's kick, he has the three-longest field goals in the state this year.

Earlier this season, Anderson made field goals from 53 yards versus Thunder Basin on Aug. 25 and from 57 yards against Kelly Walsh on Sept. 8.

Cheyenne South hasn't had much to celebrate lately, as the Bison have lost 34 games in a row, but Anderson is worth celebrating. Honestly, amazing!

Football state records are listed at www.wyoming-football.com (thank you - Patrick Schmiedt), but he does not have field goals.
