Why Nobody Minds A Wyoming Traffic Jam
There are signs out on the roads of the eastern side of Wyoming that read "Stock Crossing." That is not a common sign seen in much of the USA, but it can be found where ranchers have land on either side of the highway.
That is where we caught the moment when a Wyoming family was moving their herd across the road. Let's face it, it does not get any more Wyoming than this.
Near La Grange, Wyoming, we had to wait for what is commonly referred to as a Wyoming traffic jam.
What a wonderful sight it is to see an entire family doing it the old Wyoming way as they moved part of their herd from grazing land, on one side of the highway, down to where the river flowed.
In this case, the grass was literally greener on the other side of the fence.
We watched and commented on how it was good to see the real deal.

Welcome to Wyoming, as the greeting goes.
Nobody in our vehicle or in any other vehicle was annoyed by the delay.
No honking horns. No road rage. Some of us even took pictures, like the ones you are seeing here. Sights like this are why we live here in the Cowboy State.
The fact that we were watching a family-run business just added to the delight of what we were witnessing.
We even continued taking pictures long after they had crossed the road. Now the traffic jam was being caused by us because the cows were gone, but we were still stopped, in the middle of the highway, watching them.
