Each year, WYDOT snowplow trucks are hit by drivers trying to pass them as they plow snowy roads. Try as they might, the message never seems to get to some dumb drivers who feel the need to be the fastest vehicle out there, in any condition.

Now, WYDOT has a new trick, and those idiot drivers are going to hate it. This new, longer wing will let them plow both the main and passing lane on roads like Highway 59.

WYDOT’s new plow truck requires drivers to avoid passing on the right. When you encounter it from behind, it will be moving at a maximum of 40 mph. The length of the new truck, including the new plow, is 46 feet.

WYDOT crews are getting an upgrade to clear roads on WY Highway 59 faster. Travelers between Douglas and Gillette will soon encounter a new, larger snowplow, designed to increase efficiency. As always. it's important to use caution when approaching active plows. (WYDOT).

Fun Fact: If you collide with this truck or its plows, expect a conversation with your insurance company.

You will see warning lights on the other side of this long plow. BRIGHT FLASHING LIGHTS. That is to try to tell some drivers who never learn that there is something in front of them, attached to the truck, and they should back the heck off.

Wait a minute. A chance of snow this Friday and Saturday, April 17th and 18th?

HECK YEAH, and we could use it. Our mountain tops need more white to give us some water this summer.

Let's take a look at what the National Weather Service is saying.

Early Spring Storm System To Impact Central Wyoming

A low-pressure system over the central high plains will bring upslope flow and snow or a rain and snow mix across much of central Wyoming very late Friday - Saturday.

Some roads may become slushy and slick in the basins, while mountain passes will likely be snow-covered with limited visibility in snow and blowing snow at times.

What/When: Snowfall will begin Saturday morning and continue through late Saturday evening. Moderate snowfall accumulations are expected above 6000 feet, with increased wind creating blowing snow over mountain passes.

Fremont County: 1-3 inches. 4-8 inches over the eastern slopes of the Wind River Mountains, including the South Pass area. Northeast wind 20 to 30 mph, causing blowing snow and limited visibility over South Pass.

Absaroka Mountains: 4-8 inches, with the highest accumulations anticipated over the southern half of the mountain range. Blowing snow will be possible with gusty winds expected Saturday afternoon.

This is why you keep that jacket handy in Wyoming all year round. This is also why you never trust what the weather is doing now to predict what Wyoming weather will be tomorrow.
