No Headlights Leads to Stolen U-Haul, Cheyenne Transient’s Arrest
A 45-year-old Cheyenne transient is behind bars after police say they caught him driving a stolen U-Haul truck.
According to a booking sheet, Ricky Joe Perry was stopped at Chesnut Drive and Cedar Place at 12:17 a.m. on Friday, June 7, after police spotted him driving a U-Haul truck without his headlights on.
Police say dispatch confirmed the U-Haul truck was stolen out of Casper.
Police say the U-Haul truck's approximate value is $49,000.
Perry was arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center for felony theft, a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both.
He made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Friday afternoon, during which his bond was set at $2,500 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for June 14 at 9:45 a.m.
