
Air Force Investigators To Continue Probe Into Package Incident
Laramie County Emergency Management issued the following statement on Thursday afternoon:
Statement On Thursday Evacuation Near F.E. Warren Air Force Base
At approximately 9:30am, a suspicious package was reported at FE Warren AFB at Gate 1. FE Warren AFB, Wyoming Highway Patrol, and Laramie County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area. Traffic control was implemented to re-route traffic away from the base from I-25 and Pershing Blvd entry points. Initially an evacuation notice was sent at 9:30am using the RAVE notification system for a 1 mile radius. A correction was sent out at 10:05am reducing the evacuation area to residences within the area perimeter of 2nd Ave to McComb Ave to Cosgriff Ct. This was only a precautionary evacuation based on recommendations from FE Warren AFB. Evacuations have been lifted for the areas and residents are allowed to return. Gate 1 and the Visitor Center area at FE Warren AFB will remain closed until further notice while investigations are completed. The Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI) is the lead agency for the investigation. The evacuation was lifted at about 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.
