UPDATE, Nov. 25, 6:30 p.m.:

Christmas can go on in the Energy Capital. Crews with Campbell County Parks and Recreation were able to clean up the display and repair the damage. It is no fully operational. The original story follows.

Gillette Police cited a 14-year-old boy for vandalizing the Campbell County Festival of Lights over the weekend.

According to the festival's Facebook page, several displays will not be working until repairs can be made. Officials don't know how long they will be down.

Gillette Police Dept. Lt. Brent Wasson said a citizen was driving through the festival at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday when part of the display hit their car. The citizen chased someone into the shadows.

Earlier that night, a woman had reported her 14-year-old boy missing as a runaway. He returned the next day and told his mom that he vandalized the display.

Wasson said officers cited the teen.

According to its website, the Campbell County Festival of Lights is the largest Christmas lights display in Wyoming. It consists of more than 1 million lights in 50 displays.

The attraction draws people from across northeastern Wyoming. It's located at the Campbell County Cam-Plex.
