Former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley has once again commented on recent speculation that he’ll rejoin the band in the very near future, saying “2017 seems like a ripe year. We’ll just have to wait and see.”

It was previously revealed that Frehley was open to reuniting with fellow original members Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons for a potential farewell tour. "If it was handled correctly, it could be great," he said.

In a new interview with Louder Noise, recorded last month but published this week, the Space Ace offers a brief, positive and non-committal update. “I haven’t heard anything from Paul and Gene, but if it’s going to happen it should happen next year, I’d assume,” he said. You can hear the interview above.

He’d previously reported that the last time he heard from Simmons was when the bassist texted to arrange a meeting at one of Frehley’s solo band shows later this month. The guitarist said, “Maybe he’ll pop the big question. Who knows?

Responding to speculation that increased after Stanley guested on his solo album Origins Vol. 1 last year, Frehley said, “If it happens it would be great. If it doesn’t, I’ll be fine and they’ll be fine.”

Frehley played his last show with Kiss in April 2001. Stanley said last June that he was delighted with the “joy and satisfaction in reconnecting” with his former colleague on Origins, but when asked about a reunion he said, “I don’t see it.”

However, Simmons added more fuel to the fire last month -- perhaps unintentionally -- when he posted a picture on Instagram showing the band's original lineup, including Frehley and drummer Peter Criss, with only a question mark as its caption.
