UPDATE: Reo Speedwagon's Kevin Cronin joined Pitbull on ABC's new singing show Greatest Hits on June 30 to perform "Messin' Around," the Miami rapper's new single that references REO Speedwagon's 1981 hit "Take It on the Run." You can watch a clip above. The video is only a minute, but we promise you it's the longest minute in the history of man.

Pitbull's new single "Messin' Around" kicks off with a lyric straight out of REO Speedwagon's 1981 No. 5 hit "Take It On the Run," continuing the Miami hip-hop star's recent association with classic rock.

Pitbull, who began working with Aerosmith's Joe Perry earlier this year, is joined on the new song by singer Enrique Iglesias. Check it out below.

REO Speedwagon frontman Kevin Cronin said he still remembers where he was when he heard "Messin' Around" for the first time. "I get into my daughter’s car ... and cranking out of her speakers comes this funky, dark, kinda cool version of what starts out to be 'Take It On the Run' but soon morphs into a hip-hop groove and an entirely new song," he recalled on the band's official website. "And I am digging it."

"Take It On the Run," including that famous line about hearing it from a friend who heard it from another friend, was written by Gary Richrath, REO Speedwagon's guitarist, who died last year.

Perry has performed with Pitbull at both the Grammys and The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon since they released the single "Bad Man" together earlier this year. Meanwhile, Iglesias earlier worked with Pitbull on a series of songs, including "I Like It," "Come N Go" and "I'm a Freak."

"I heard an interview with Pitbull a few months ago and found him extremely hard working and likable," Cronin added. "So that makes his choice to combine our music with his even sweeter. Pitbull’s track has a more sensual street edge to it, and I think it is fun."
