Watch Roger Waters, My Morning Jacket and Neil Young Cover Bob Dylan
Roger Waters' set at this year's Bridge School benefit on Oct. 22 included a reunion with his old pals in My Morning Jacket — and a cover of Bob Dylan's "Forever Young" that featured an assist from Neil Young.
You can check out Waters' Bridge School rendition of the Dylan classic in the fan-shot footage above. As Rolling Stone notes, this gig wasn't the first time My Morning Jacket served as Waters' backing band — they were also on hand when he played at the Newport Folk Festival in 2015.
"Forever Young" came at the close of a seven-song set that was heavy with Pink Floyd numbers ("Wish You Were Here," "Mother," "Vera," "Bring the Boys Back Home") but also made room for the Waters solo cut "The Bravery of Being Out of Range" as well as a cover of John Prine's "Hello in There."
As previously reported, Waters' recent appearances at the Bridge School benefit and the Desert Trip festival are warm-ups for much larger-scale touring plans in 2017. He's already booked from next May through next October, during which time he'll travel throughout North America on a trek he's calling the Us + Them Tour. Although he's said what fans can expect is "a secret," he's hinted at a career-spanning show.
"It’ll be a mixture of stuff from my long career, stuff from my years with Pink Floyd, some new things," said Waters. "Probably 75 percent of it will be old material and 25 percent will be new, but it will be all connected by a general theme. It will be a cool show, I promise you. It’ll be spectacular like all my shows have been."
