Taylor Hawkins In Rush? No Thanks! ‘I’d Get F—-ing Crucified’

Although he happily dressed and performed as Rush star Neil Peart while inducting the legendary group into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins has no interest in replacing the legend in real life.
"Dude, I'd get f---ing crucified, man," Hawkins responded when asked by Eddie Trunk if he'd thought of taking over for Peart. The longtime Rush drummer has said that his band's most recent tour would be their last, citing a desire to spend time with his family and various health concerns.

While Rush has quite clearly stated they wouldn't go on without all three current members, that apparently hasn't stopped some fans from speculating or fantasy booking Peart's replacement. But Hawkins isn't having any of it. "You know how many f---ing dorks would wanna kick my ass if I tried to be in Rush? It'd be like a nation of dorks chasing me and trying to kill me. [Screaming] You're not Neil Peart! Don't even think about it!"

Hawkins and head Foo Fighter Dave Grohl will contribute their performance of "Overture" to the upcoming 40th anniversary edition of Rush's 2112. The Foo Fighters are emerging from a hiatus that began last March for some 2017 tour dates, which are apparently going to be announced one at a time. Hawkins also recently released a solo EP entitled KOTA.
