Awww summertime.  That time of the year is upon us where we no longer are oppressed to spend the majority of our time indoors and we love to spend as much time outside as possible.  There is so much to do in Casper in the summertime.  Picnics are enjoyed by many in Casper parks, but which ones are the best?  Here are my top 5 picks for a summer picnic in Casper.

I have based my top choices on a few factors. #1. Is there grass?  In my opinion grass is essential.  Not all parks have grass, or have an uncomfortable dirt grass mix.  #2. Is it decently blocked from the constant wind?  There is nowhere in Casper you came fully escape the wind, but some places are better than others. #3. Does it have a shelter/picnic bench?  Most parks have these shelters with a picnic bench underneath.  I do not require one of these for all picnics, but they come in handy for large groups of people. Finally, #4. Are there trees?  This one is just a personal preference.  I enjoy being in the shade of a tree and they provide a lovely background noise when a breeze is traveling through them.

    Adams Park

    Map

This little neighborhood park sits on Coffman Ave. One of the reasons this is one of my top picks is that this park is small and intimate.  Garden Creek runs right through the middle dividing it into two pieces. The side next to Coffman has all you need.  Across the bridge is a more secluded and private section perfect for a picnic for two.

    Nancy English Park

    Map

Nancy English Park sits on the west side of Casper south of CY Blvd. This park also has the pleasure of having Garden Creek run right through the middle of it. What I like about Nancy English is that you can lay down a blanket right by the bank of the creek for a blissful summer picnic.  There are plenty of trees to provide shade and atmosphere for a great summer day.

    Washington Park

    Map

Living right in the middle of our town, Washington Park is one of the largest, if not the largest, park Casper has to offer.  This park has something for everyone.  There are large trees, a vast field of grass, playground equipment for the kids, tennis courts, and a pool. Despite the activity and popularity, you can still have a quiet afternoon picnic at Washington Park, or get the whole gang together and have a raging picnic.

    Riverview Park

    Map

Tucked away on the north side of Casper, Riverview park really lives up to it's name.  A beautiful view of the North Platte River, soft grass, and places for the kids to play make Riverview park a lovely destination for a summer picnic, no matter the occasion.
