What’s In A Wyoming Name? – Worland
The locals called him “Dad,” and in 1900, C.H. Worland – originally from Missouri -- opened the first post office and stage station on a spot along the Bridger Trail. He came to Wyoming trailing sheep and may have brought the first sheep into the Big Horn Basin. The liquor and supplies he sold found a new market when irrigation came, and he prospered as a businessman and rancher. He brought a vision to a new town – and a name to Worland, Wyoming.
