Wyoming Cowgirls Receive a Vote in National Rankings
It’s been nearly four years, but the Wyoming Cowgirls have started to get noticed by the national polls after their recent play.
Fresh off their ninth straight victory, the Cowgirls received two points in voting for the AP Top 25 women’s college basketball poll revealed Monday, which is good for a tie for 36th. The last time UW picked up a vote was Feb. 11, 2013.
Wyoming’s current win streak is their longest since 2007-08. They’re 7-0 start to Mountain West Conference play is the best in program history. The 15-3 start is also the best since the 07-08 squad began that season 17-1.
The Cowgirls have won every league game by 12 points or more. Their closest game was the conference opener at Air Force on Dec. 28, 2016. That final was 66-54. Four of their MW victories have been by 22 points or more.
Wyoming heads on the road for their next two games. First up is a stop in Las Vegas against UNLV Wednesday night at 7 p.m., Mountain Time.
