The Wyoming Cowboy football program welcomed 18 new additions to their roster Wednesday with the start of the 2019 recruiting class on day one of the early signing period.

Head coach Craig Bohl and Wyoming Recruiting Coordinator Justin Mesa introduced the high school prospects that will join the Cowboys next fall.

Wyoming grabbed 12 of the 18 members of this signing class from the football talent-rich states of California and Texas. Bohl and his staff ventured heavily into the Lone Star state for the first time since being at UW. There are also members from Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wyoming.

Eight of the signees are on offense and 10 on defense. It breaks down with three wide receivers, two tight end/H-back players, and three offensive linemen. On the opposite side of the ball, the Pokes signed three defensive linemen, two linebackers, and five secondary players.

Coach Bohl opened the press conference and then gave the floor to Mesa, who went through each of the 18 players.

Bohl then came back to summarize the class and answered questions from the media.

The class is highlighted by the No. 1 ranked recruit in Wyoming and the 2018 Gatorade Player of the Year in Sheridan’s Parker Christensen.

You also have the No. 5 ranked recruit by Rivals from Minnesota in lineman Latrell Bible. Three of the top 13 ranked recruits from Minnesota according to 247 Sports with Treyton Welch, DeVonne Harris, and Bible.

Eight signees were three-star rated recruits by 247 Sports.

Bohl said they are still looking at signing six or seven more players in this 2019 recruiting class. He also stated they’re still looking for a QB, running back, a bigger tight end, and at defensive tackle.

The early period ends on Friday, Dec. 21 for high school players. The mid-year JUCO transfer period continues through Jan. 15, 2019. The next signing day is Feb. 6 through April 1, 2019.
