With summer in the rear-view mirror, and hunters starting to pack their rifles next weekend, this would be a great weekend to get out and tease some Walleyes and Browns. The colors are a special treat that lasts for far too little time. Besides, people are getting fish for the freezer, smoker or just getting them right into the frying pan. Mmmmmm…. fresh fish…. Nom nom nom.

You’ll find the fishing is fine with the cooler weather, shorter days and spawning increasing the activity. Anglers are doing fine on the upper North Platte and Encampment Rivers. They’re smiling in Saratoga Valley. The same goes for Gray Reef and Miracle Mile, even though the clarity is down. Toss ‘em some Panther Martins, Trico spinners or San Juan worms and get ready to play.

Reports are good from Lake Owen in Snowy Range, but you should think about putting in the boat at Rob Roy. Oh, and don’t forget Pole Mountain where you can hike into the beaver ponds and come out with dinner. There may be a bit of mud but it will be worth the trip.

One more great thing about fishing this time of year, you can catch your limit just about any time of day instead of just early & late. Good luck! Enjoy your Autumn color and catching in the great Wyoming outdoors.
