Wyomingites Dying To Work? Apparently, Yes

One of the hardest jobs is finding a job. In 5 states it may be hard to make it to the end of the day uninjured or alive. It’s like we’re dying to work.

The AFL-CIO says “every day 150 people will be killed on the job or die from job-related illnesses and diseases.” The Washington Post listed the most dangerous states to work in and Wyoming makes the Top 5.

Pre oil bust 2013 “North Dakota was the most dangerous state for workers, with an average of 14.9 fatalities per 100,000 workers, more than four times the national average of 3.2 deaths per 100,000 workers. The next deadliest states for workers are Wyoming (9.5), West Virginia (8.6), Alaska (7.9) and New Mexico (6.7).”

Most deaths were in “in natural resources and mining and in transportation and warehousing.”

The Fiscal Times Reported “Fifty-six workers were killed in North Dakota that year in work-related accidents. The fatality rate in the mining, and oil and gas extraction sectors was a shocking 84.7 per 100,000, or nearly seven times the national fatality rate in the industry. Meanwhile, the state’s construction sector fatality rate was 44.1 per 100,000, or more than four times the national rate.”

247wallst’s overall most dangerous states top 10 list left off Wyoming, but when we go to work, it’s hazardous. In fact, overall, Wyoming is the 3^rd safest state to live in.
