The Wyoming Cowboys swept the Mountain West Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors Monday as announced the conference office.

Junior’s Josh Allen and Andrew Wingard earned the accolades. Allen is the Offensive Player of the Week for the first time this season and third time in his career. Wingard is the Defensive Player of the Week for a second time this year and third time in a UW uniform.

Allen tied his career-high with four touchdown passes. He threw for 234 yards. Allen added a TD run and 20 yards on the ground for 254 yards of total offense. He had no negative plays in terms of sacks, tackles for loss, interceptions or fumbles. Allen also generated six explosive plays of 10 or more yards with runs or passes.

Wingard had two of Wyoming’s five interceptions in the game, both of which led to Cowboy touchdowns. It was the first multiple interception game of his career. Wingard also recorded five solo tackles. He was part of a defense that did not allow a touchdown and recorded a school record 7 turnovers forced. Wingard helped the Pokes hold New Mexico to 184 yards on offense.

Entering this week, Wingard is ranked No. 10 in the country in solo tackles per game at 6.1 and 18th in the nation in total tackles per game at 9.6 per game this season.

The last time Wyoming had multiple players earn conference player of the week honors was after their Utah State victory in 2016, when Allen and linebacker Logan Wilson were awarded for their efforts.

The Cowboys return to action Saturday versus rival Colorado State in the Border War at 5 p.m. from War Memorial Stadium in Laramie.
