Since 1996, Wyoming residents have had the unique opportunity to watch a dog sled race.

The Pedigree Stage Stop Dog Sled Race will run form January 26th to February 3rd. Mushers and their teams depart from Jackson, and ultimately end up back in Teton County for the finale. That is not before stops in Alpine, Kemmerer, Big Piney, Pinedale, Lander, and Driggs, Idaho, however.

Over a dozen mushers are competing for the first place prize of 10,000 dollars. The top 4 finishers receive over 5,000 dollars.

British Columbia native Lina Streeper is last year's winner and she'll compete again in 2018. The win was Streeper's first in the event. Blayne "Buddy" Streeper holds a record seven titles in the event, but no longer competes.

Local favorites include Alix Crittenden who is from Bondurant and Jerry Bath-Withdrawn from Lander.  Other racers competing are from Oregon, Montana, Colorado, Alaska, Washington, Minnesota, Alaska, and Canada.
