On August 21 at 11:43 a.m., Casper will be completely dark for 2 minutes and 26 seconds. Jackson, Dubois, Riverton, Glenrock, Douglas, and Torrington will go dark for about that long, too. Other parts of Wyoming will go dark, but for less than 2 minutes.

While the actual "night-like" phase of the eclipse won't be long, the entire day will be odd with the sunshine gradually becoming less, and then reappearing in the afternoon.

This will likely be the only chance to see an eclipse in Wyoming for most of our lifetimes. In 2024 a solar eclipse will be visible from Texas through the midwest to New England. In 2044 one can be seen in Canada and parts of northern Montana. And, in 2045 America will get another great opportunity to view an eclipse, but it will be just south of Wyoming stretching from California to Florida, running through Utah and Colorado.

So, the moral of the story is we'd better live it up for the 2017 eclipse! Here's some of our favorite, funny, things you can do when it gets dark! PS - Some of these are probably illegal so be careful.

Light up the sky with fireworks, just make sure you're prepared for a small window to do this. PS - This is illegal, so best to go out of town somewhere.
