Let’s catch these criminals.

Hey, you just won the $2.5 million Powerball lottery! Give me $800 for taxes and processing and I’ll get you your winnings.

That’s one scam that The Wyoming Lottery Corporation is warning Wyomingites about. Scammers are trying to fool people into handing over money or their personal information in order to collect their WyoLotto winnings.

First, know that the lottery folks will not contact you, it’s the other way around. Second, Don’t deposit any check they send you, it will bounce. Obviously, never send any money for processing and fees. The lottery will never ask you for money, your Social Security number, credit card or bank account digits.

Oh, another major clue it’s a scam? You didn’t buy a lottery ticket."

Let’s catch these criminals.

If contacted, call The Wyoming Lottery at 307-432-9300 or contact The Federal Trade Commission.
