The Casper Police Department on Monday identified the man arrested in connection with a homicide investigation.

Rodney Smith, 51, was arrested late Friday afternoon, according to department spokeswoman Rebekah Ladd. She said the investigation is ongoing and more information would be released as it becomes available.

Smith was arrested after nearly a week of investigative work by detectives. He is charged with felony manslaughter and one felony offense as a habitual criminal, which would allow for a longer period of incarceration should Smith be convicted.

The victim's body was found Nov. 30 when officers went to the 6400 Block of Village Drive for a report of an unconscious person.

Ladd said Friday that there is no threat to the public in connection with the case.
