‘Captain America 2′ Making a Last-Minute Addition With Robert Redford?
'Captain America 2,' dubbed 'The Winter Soldier,' is reportedly gearing up to present a panel at this year's Comic-Con, where we hope we'll hear (and perhaps see) some much-needed previews from the Cap's next adventure. Since production has nearly begun, we were under the impression that the cast, at least for the most part, was all set and done, but it turns out that Marvel might have one final addition in the form of Robert Redford. But whom might he play?
'Captain America 2' will see Chris Evans returning once again as the "First Avenger," and will see him teaming up with Anthony Mackie's Falcon. In addition, Deadline now reports that Marvel has gone into talks with Robert Redford for a role in 'Captain America 2,' where he'd play a high-ranking member of S.H.I.E.L.D. [UPDATE] A THR source compares the part to "similar to the one played by Ralph Fiennes as M’s replacement in last year’s James Bond movie 'Skyfall.'"
Marvel has kept quiet on the matter, naturally, but Deadline suggests that perhaps Redford's role will have him showing up in future Marvel movies, as many characters and actors have a habit of doing.
Speaking of which, 'Captain America 2' will also include the return of Hayley Atwell for flashback scenes, Toby Jones, Sebastian Stan, Cobie Smulders, Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson, with new additions like Frank Grillo as Crossbones and Emily VanCamp as our new leading lady. 'The Winter Soldier' hits theaters April 4, 2014.
