A Casper man is facing a felony DUI charge after a motorcycle crash that left a woman hospitalized for three days in June.

Charles Vincent Dawson is charged with a single count of DUI - serious bodily injury. He could face up to 10 years behind bars, $5,000 in fines or both.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, a Natrona County sheriff's deputy responded to a motorcycle crash on Wyoming Highway 220 at the intersection with Lakeshore Drive near Alcova.

First responders found a woman lying on the ground with Dawson next to her.

Dawson allegedly told deputies that he only had one drink at the Alcova marina. The affidavit says Dawson performed poorly on a field sobriety test. Dawson agreed to blow into a breathalyzer, which yielded a .119% result, court documents say.

The affidavit alleges Dawson told deputies that he came upon the stop sign too fast and may have slid on a cattle guard before the crash.

Dawson's passenger was taken to Wyoming Medical Center where she stayed for three days. The affidavit says the passenger suffered three broken vertebrae, a broken tailbone, a concussion along with several cuts and bruises.
