January is National Mentoring Month.  Greater Wyoming Big Brothers Big Sisters (GWBBBS) would like everyone to think of the mentors in your own life and how that person affected you.  As you think of that person who made an impact on your life, you too can make that same impact on a child. GWBBBS would like you to consider being a mentor to a child.

Big Brothers Big Sisters offers one-on-one mentoring programs designed to build lifetime relationships, and to share the gifts of caring, concern, and friendship.  The only requirements are just being yourself and giving a little of your time.  Being a mentor is not about gifts or money.  Being a mentor is about your willingness to spend time with a child. Just doing this has a great impact on the child.  Having a caring adult around to help reinforce values set by parents will help the child thrive in life.  Studies have shown that children in mentoring programs are more likely to succeed in school and in life.  GWBBBS offers match support specialists to help through out the entire relationship.  Being a mentor is one the greatest gifts you can give a child.
