The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is continuing its investigation and has yet to find a person who may know how an abandoned recreational boat got in the North Platte River this week.

"If anyone has any information concerning who is the owner of this boat at this current time, we'd appreciate a phone call at the Game and Fish Office here in Casper," Brian Olsen, Casper regional wildlife supervisor for the department said Friday.

The partially sunken green and white boat — an inboard-outboard Glasspar Seafair Sedan — was discovered Wednesday, and it was moored to a pillar on the bridge near the Parkway Plaza.

Thursday, City of Casper and Game and Fish crews hauled it from the river.

Dumping boats in waterways is against the law because it’s littering, Olsen said. Wyoming Game and Fish has the responsibility to enforce U.S. Coast Guard rules about watercraft on the state’s waterways.

"Right now, we're looking at charges of littering," Olsen said. "We're in conversations with the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality here in Casper, and they're looking to add some charges to the littering charge."

A reader of K2 Radio's website and Facebook page on Thursday recognized the boat as one he gave to someone else. He called the Game and Fish Department to offer his help, Olsen said.
